Antiquarian’s Attic is reporting that Dr Margaret Gelling died this week. For those of you not familiar with her work, Dr Gelling was one of the best known English place-name scholars. She was best known for her work at uncovering Old English origins for English placenames and the vocabulary of Old English geographical terms.
